The most recent version of the Template dialog (starting with version 2.02) is changed from previous versions. The dialog for the new version is shown above. This is slightly different from the version shown in the User‘s Manual. The new version displays a larger preview picture (which shows color previews), and has one additional button for Apply colors/lines/framing.
◊ Templates save all style and configuration settings of a table. You can make a template from any table. You can make a new table from a template, or apply the style of a template to an existing table. Templates are stored in “template libraries”. You can make a new library, or open an existing one. Only one library can be open at any given time.
◊ To go to the template dialog, choose Templates from the Table menu, or Use Template from the Setup dialog. Choose New library to make a new template library, Open library to open an existing library. When there is an activated table, choose Make template to add that table to the currently open template library.
◊ To apply a template to a new table, choose Use Template in the Setup dialog when creating the table. To make the table exactly like the template, including row/column counts and merged/split cells, click Make a table in the Template dialog. To apply style settings only, without changing the row/column configuration, click Apply colors/lines/framing.
◊ To apply template style only to an existing activated table, or to a new table being created, click Apply colors/lines/framing. This applies row/column color and shade, and table lines, but does not affect cell configuration. Style settings which are applied are all those which can be set from the Table Style and Line Scripts dialogs, and shading/color/framing which has been applied to the whole table from the Selected Cell Style dialog. Text style settings are not affected by Apply colors/lines/framing.
NOTE: Custom colors are remembered in the template by name. If you are using templates in a different document from the one where the templates were created, you should append the colors from the original document into the current document. (This can be done from the Edit/Colors dialog.)
COMPATABILITY NOTE: You can still open and use template libraries that were created with Tableworks Plus prior to version 2.02. However, you will not be able to add new templates to these libraries, or use Apply colors/lines/framing. Also, picture previews in older libraries will be in black and white only.
